Lo Que La Vida Me Robo: Spanglish Girl’s Recap and Review (July 7-15)

Lo Que La Vida Me Robo: Episodes 161-166

The good thing about this novela is that it makes me feel better about my own life… I mean, really, is anyone else starting to feel like Montserrat’s character is taking everything pretty well: I’d already be on my 100th meltdown at this point—if not admitted somewhere.

Since this blog is a little late, I’m going to discuss last week up until today (Wednesday July 15, 2014). First and foremost: just when we thought Alejandro and Montserrat were finally going to be together, Jose Luis pulls a fast one and changes his mind.  At first, he was willing to allow Alejandro and Montserrat to be together, but only because he believed Maria when she said she and Alejandro were having an affair. Jose Luis thought for sure, once Montserrat figured it out, that she would be back in his arms—but no—he miscalculated the level of trust Montserrat and Alejandro have between each other.

So once Jose Luis realized Maria had not succeeded in breaking up Montserrat and Alejandro, he ambushed them as Montserrat was finishing packing and he and Alejandro had another showdown.  But this time, Alejandro did not back down: he returned and took Montserrat with him. The showdown between him and Jose Luis was not a fair fight because Alejandro received backup from Victor,  El Padrecito (with his bible), and Macario. So even though Maria and Jose Luis tried one last time to break them up, Montserrat and Alejandro did finally end up together. Whew! I swear—this novela is just too much sometimes!

Speaking of Maria—what a wackadoo! That’s my word for loca—she has lost it! Again…  What did she hope to gain by pretending to be Montserrat in Jose Luis’s presence? Alejandro, she is crazy about, so her whole blonde wig with him kind of makes sense (in a crazy person kind of way), but Jose Luis? Really? Anyway—they need to put a restraining order on her and a judge needs to have her admitted somewhere—she is a nuisance to society.  Her creeping into Jose Luis’s house and pretending to be Montserrat was pretty weird—even for her—but then she lures Alejandro to her apartment and knocks him out and lays in bed with him, kissing him while he is out: all of this in one week! The girl needs a hobby and an exorcism.

I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried! At least Montserrat figured out Maria’s game and so, when she arrived and saw Alejandro in bed with Maria, she knew something was up.  Enough about Maria: She is taking up blog space and truthfully, we have better things to talk about.

El Padrecito is back! I knew it! I knew it! I’m so happy. I was devastated when he supposedly died.  Now that he has returned, he is back to trying to save everyone’s soul—even those who may not have one (i.e. Maria and Adolfo).  Now that we are on the subject of Adolfo: I really want to believe him that he wants to change, but I can’t forgive him for killing Monica. It was just too much. I also don’t see him and Josefina staying together forever. I think it’s only a matter of time before she and Dimitrio reunite. You can tell the girl continues to wish she were with Dimitrio.

Now for the sad news: Pedro is alive. I think there is a saying in Spanish that goes, “¡Hierba mala nunca muere! (bad people don’t die).”  I have to say in this novela it rings true: Hence, Pedro is still alive.  And as is to be expected, Pedro is already making his rounds—scorpions in tow.  The previews for tomorrow look a little alarming: will Nadia really attempt to sit on a bed of scorpions? I really hope not. Especially since Nadia and Victor are finally happily married!

Nadia and Victor’s wedding was long overdue. Pedro, of course, could not be left out of the moment and so he ensured Nadia remembered him by placing a scorpion in a drawer. His plan worked because she remembered him on what should have been a happy day. I’m not so sure I liked her choice of headwear. It reminded me of Cleopatra or some sort of renaissance look.  Oh, and I have to wonder how Victor paid for the ring—afterall—aren’t they broke? Maybe now that Alejandro has his fortune back he too has his old job back.

So yes! You heard me right: Alejandro got his fortune back! He is now legally married to Montserrat again, but his wealth is not what it used to be thanks to Graciela.  I’m not surprised that one way or another Graciela managed to get her greedy little hands on Alejandro’s money.  She, as we all suspected, did not travel with Fabiola. Instead, she left without her and it ruined Fabiola.

Fabiola was taken to jail and surprisingly Montserrat, Alejandro, and Dimitrio stepped in to help her because they are, after all, siblings. Isnt that so weird? That a husband and wife share a half sibling. Anyway,  so the novela fast forwards and Graciela returns to Agua Azul soon after Pedro re-appears.  Fabiola is approached by Pedro and he encourages her to pay Graciela back by killing her.  Fabiola, however, kills herself instead—in front of Graciela.  Fabiola’s last words are, “thank you for giving me life.” The novella then fast-forwards another year and we see Graciela like we have never seen her before: no makeup and completely distraught. She looks like she has literally gone mad.  Then the episode ends.

Well my fellow Novela Lovers, that is one week and two days worth of episode recaps.  The episodes have been moving so fast that it is hard to keep up. One day one thing happens and then the next everything changes. I’ve said it before and I’ve been wrong, but this time, I’m sure, we are nearing the end.

I’m considering having a novela Twitter party during the final week of the novela: I’ll keep you all updated, so make sure you follow us on Twitter @SpanglishGirlsG!

Until  Saturday, when I’ll post another blog, goodnight or good morning depending on where you live.

Spanglish Girl

Ps. I forgot: Montserrat finally had Jose Luis’s Baby and it is a Girl! Jose Luis also becomes more difficult and from the looks of things—he was not joking when he told Montserrat, as she was leaving him,  “If I can’t be happy neither will you…”

Ok, mimis time (a.ka. how you say time to go to sleep in Spanglish).
