Lo Que La Vida Me Robó: Spanglish Girl’s Recap and Review May 9-16

He’s back he’s back!!! Alejandro is back—and EVERYONE is getting in the way of him reuniting with Montserrat. I’m so annoyed… But well talk about it more later

So Maria is back, as well, and she is a drug addict. Thank goodness for Adolfo—her knight in shining armor—who has forced her into rehab. I’m hoping she gets help—I really am.  I feel sorry for her. I know! Sorry for Maria? I never thought the day would come but it has (I think I may have felt sorry for her one other time).  I feel bad for her because she ended up on the streets and she really has no one. I think Adolfo really cares for her, but I also can’t help but wonder if he just wants to know what happened to Benjamin’s original will.

Another strange thing that happened this week was that I actually found myself thinking Adolfo was kind of hot. I believe I fell for him (slightly) because he seems so much more serious and genuine now. Truthfully, I always thought he was a little cute. I still wouldn’t date him—I don’t like bad boys.  I’m also thinking that because Maria and Adolfo have both been exposed to the dark side of life that maybe they can help each other. But let’s be honest: as soon as Maria finds out Alejandro is alive and in town she is probably going to do some crazy things. If she was crazy before, when she was actually “normal,” then this time around Montserrat better watch out.

Now let’s talk about the love birds Dimitrio and Monica. They really are a cute couple, but I get the feeling Dimitrio is still in love with Josefina.  As much as he tries to pretend he is not, it’s clear he is. He day dreams about Josefina every other day, and let’s not forget the look on his face when he saw Josefina and Adolfo at dinner: you don’t fool me Dimitrio. Monica is going to catch on very soon—she is a smart girl. She only likes Dimitrio because she sees the good in him, but the good in him was born from his relationship with Josefina.  It will be interesting to see how this ends.

And because it’s Agua Azul, a place where everyone dates each other and each other’s ex’s, Monica has nothing to worry about because if her and Dimitrio don’t work out, Refugio might be available and thrilled to be her next boyfriend… I really hope not! I’m rooting for Refugio and Esmeralda; although, I’m not liking Refugio very much right now.  In fact, I’m 100% team Esmeralda—the girl knows what she is talking about: Esmeralda realizes she has lost herself in the marriage, and that Refugio liked the idea of her, but not the real her. Yup, that’s deep and a recipe for failure in a relationship.

Hopefully, once their baby is born, those two will figure it out. Personally, I think Refugio is going through the 7 year itch—which is quite common in relationships (or so I’ve heard).  He thinks the grass is greener on the other side, but it’s not always. He also keeps hiding his feelings about La Capitan from Esmeralda. He needs to just be honest (she kind of figured it out anyway).  I’m guessing he is scared to tell Esmeralda…

Now if only Pedro could fear Nadia the way Refugio fears Esmeralda, but let’s face it, even Esmeralda is scared of Pedro, and I don’t blame them all, he is evil. I do not like Pedro one bit; he is truly the most evil novela character of all time. I can’t think of any other character that compares to him (kudos to the writers). Graciela comes close, but she is evil in a different way.

So Pedro has won again, and I hope it’s his last win (stealing Nadia and Victoria). I can’t stand that he always gets his way. I also believe he has lost a grip on reality: he truly believes his own lies. Victoria is not his daughter, but by force, he wants her to be. I think he needs an exorcism.

I knew Nadia’s performance was going to reveal her identity. Pedro wasted no time in verifying it was her, and he arrived in Buenos Arias and stole Victoria and then Nadia.  And as if things couldn’t get worse, Victor gets stabbed and hospitalized. Like I said in my tweets, this couple needs a limpia.

So Victor and Alejandro have finally arrived in Agua Azul (don’t these two remind you of Jose Luis and Refugio back in the day—how the tables have turned).  Anyway, Alejandro arrives just in time to see Montserrat and Jose Luis walking out of the church, married. Victor doesn’t let Alejandro crash the wedding, and, as if that’s not enough, Josefina also puts her two cents in and refuses to give Montserrat a letter Alejandro wrote. I like Josefina and Victor, but I think they both need to stay out of it. If Alejandro wants to crash the wedding, let him! If he wants to give Montserrat a letter—let him!

And they are not the only two meddling in Monserrat and Alejandro’s relationship: Jose Luis and Graciela are also keeping the news from Montserrat. Jose Luis has even manipulated Laurito Jr. into not telling Montserrat that Victoria thinks Alejandro is his dad. Truthfully, I am also disappointed in everyone who knows about Alejandro because they have not shared the news with Rosario: that is so wrong—I feel like no one really cares about her.  I am so annoyed with all the meddling!

Last, but not least, there is Graciela and Fabiola: like mother like daughter. I find it amusing that Graciela has no idea. I think Fabiola, more than Montserrat, is truly like her mother. Montserrat, of course, came out like Lauro. But anyway—Montserrat now knows that Graciela was a driving force behind the accusations against Alejandro. The question now is what will happen. Fabiola’s goal was to tell Montserrat, but now that Montserrat knows, what is she going to do to them both? She is, after all, upset about Montserrat marrying Jose Luis—and that still has not changed. We will have to wait and see.

Now what about her using the same wedding dress twice? Well here is my two cents (as if this whole blog isn’t my two cents): I believe in signs. So if it were me, once I had a glass of champagne all over my dress, I would have called it quits and said, “I can’t marry you Jose Luis, everything is so wrong!” But that’s me and I’ve been accused of being somewhat dramatic.  I think I’d need to call a shrink if, on that same day, I was given a letter telling me my mom was being held hostage (although if my mom was Graciela, I’m not sure I’d try to save her…). Anyway.

Before I go, I want to voice my disappointment: I thought for sure this week we were going to see Alejandro reunite with Montserrat. The previews throughout the whole week hinted at a reunion and it didn’t happen. It was a letdown, but I guess we should look at the bright side: the longer it draws out, the longer the novela continues. I’m seriously going to have withdrawals once it’s over—what will I do with my evenings? I guess I could get a life…

Until my next blog, take care.

Ps. This is how I feel right now:
