Lo Que La Vida Me Robó: Spanglish Girl’s Recap & Review (April 24 – May 7)

So it’s Wednesday and already Jose Luis and Montserrat are engaged, Alejandro has awakened, and Pedro has found Nadia!  Ay yi yi! Doesn’t this novela make your own life seem so peaceful? So let’s get started because its been almost two weeks since my last blog.

Jose Luis and Montserrat are engaged! Now, do we celebrate or cry? I guess it depends on which team you are on. I personally feel overwhelmed: I needed a shot of tequila after yesterday’s episode. Jose Luis is not going to be so chivalrous this time around—I can feel it in my bones. When Alejandro returns for Montserrat—and he will—Jose Luis is going to fight tooth and nail to keep her.

And as you saw yesterday, Laurito Jr. is thrilled to have Jose Luis as his new dad; Montserrat, however, has not convinced me that she is ready to remarry—even with the speech she gave Rosario about it being time to move on—Montserrat seems reluctant.  Montserrat, 6 years later, is still devastated and rightly so.  But what happens to love? Does it really ever go away…I don’t know.

Now, what about that family gathering last night? Graciela didn’t take long to make it all about her. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes as she talked about how she loves her kids and she wants their forgiveness—she is so confusing. She is supposedly helping Jose Luis, but she continuously nags Monserrat about her choice to marry him—I’m guessing she is trying the oldest rule in the parenting book: tell your kids what to do so that they do the opposite.

Two more thing: Montserrat’s fashion sense has become stagnant while Jose Luis is quit fashion forward. What is it with Montserrat and those skirts? She must have 100s! Jose Luis, however—thanks to Esmeralda—is quit the trend setter in his jeans and coat.

And that bikini body—no wonder Jose Luis is still in love with her—but I have to wonder if Angelica was right about those two: she said that Montserrat and Jose Luis would have eventually broken up If they had been allowed to pursue their relationship. I think her exact words were that Montserrat needs a man to chase her and make her feel wanted (i.e. Alejandro), whereas Jose Luis is gentle and likes to let his woman be free. Hmmm, so if Angelica is right and their relationship was all about their passion than maybe Montserrat should stick to bikinis and not those long skirts…

So today is the big day! Someone appears at the door and everyone is surprised. Of course, Jose Luis and Montserrat will be the most surprised because in the end, it’s their fate that will change forever. I’m thinking it is Josefina because there is no way Alejandro is already in Agua Azul—or is he?

So if it is Josefina, what will La Capitan think? I think personality wise La Capital and Dimitrio make more sense. Josefina deserves someone who can enjoy the finer things in life with her. She needs a guy who can take her to the opera, to dine at fine restaurants, and to travel to Paris.  But because this is a novela, you never know how things will end. Like I asked earlier: What happens to love? Does it just disappear into thin air or are the feelings always present, just ignored… Will Dimitrio and Josefina fall in love again?

Well one love that we know is gone for good is Nadia’s and Pedro’s—see there are some instances where love does disappear into thin air—but let’s face it, Pedro is not capable of love.  So now Pedro has found Nadia and Nadia is even more vulnerable because she doesn’t have her sight.  Pedro creeping around her house is creepy.

I can’t even begin to guess where this storyline will go from here. If Victor gets home and finds Pedro lurking in his home, I’m guessing one of them is going to die.  And if Victor doesn’t get home in time, I’m afraid for what will happen to Nadia and her daughter. Today’s episode will definitely be intense and jaw dropping.

Until next time,

PS. I forgot to talk about Alejandro waking up. I was so upset when he ran away from the hospital, especially when he passed Victor in the lobby—those writer’s know what they are doing! My emotions were all caught up in the moment. I was so worried he was going to get lost and that he was going to jeopardize everything. When Victor found him, I literally let out a sigh of relief.  We’ll see what happens today—maybe he’s at the door—I doubt it because it’s only Wednesday. I would think the writers would prefer to leave us hanging on Friday.

So in the final analysis, what happened to Alehandro and Monsarat, not to mention Jose Luis.
Who won the race. Also, I am interested in Josefina and Domitrio. What about Nadia and Victor.
    Thanks.
